
Rzhyshchiv, a town of regional subordination, is situated in the estuary of the Lehlychi River. Rzhyschiv appeared on the site of the ancient town of Ivanhorod, first mentioned in chronicles in 1151.
The Obukhiv region is situated in the central part of the Kyiv region, 30 km from Kyiv.
The regional archaeological museum (the village of Trypillia) stands on the Dnipro’s steep slope on the site of the ancient town of Trypol.
The collection of the museum gives a clear idea of the historic events that occurred in the Kyiv area from the Paleolithic age to the end of the 18th century. The museum displays antiquities of Zarubyntsi, Cherniakhiv, Kyiv, Kolochyn, Luka-Raikovets, Volyntsiv and Romny cultures.
