Due to the geographical location and specific features of the historic development, the Kyiv region has all the necessary resources for tourism expansion.

The Kyiv region numbers 17 preserves, 35 monuments of nature, 8 parks — monuments of landscape gardening and 12 conservation areas. The Kyiv land gave birth to such famous statesmen as Yaroslav the Wise, Ivan Mazepa, Feofan Prokopovych, I. M. Soschenko, P. P. Chubynsky, H. M. Kosynka, I. S. Kozlovsky, A. S. Malyshko, K. V. Bilokur, O. K. Dyptan, A. M. Liulka, P. R. Popovych, Ivan Drach, Lina Kostenko, Sholom-Aleichem and many other outstanding personalities.

Pereyaslav-Khmelnytsky is the most ancient town in the Kyiv region. It is mentioned in the chronicles as early as 906.

On the territory of the town is located the National Historical and Ethnographical Preserve “Pereyaslav” with 25 diverse museums.

The town of Irpin’, 27 km from Ukraine’s capital, is a famous national health resort. It emerged in 1902 during the construction of the railway Kyiv—Kovel. Situated in magnificent scenery, Irpin’ is widely known as a climatic resort.

The Irpin' district has approximately 20 health, prophylactic and recreation centers, more than 10 summer camps.

Bila Tserkva, the biggest city in the Kyiv region, stands on both banks of the picturesque Ros River, 70 km from Ukraine’s capital. It was founded in 1032 by Grand Prince Yaroslav the Wise (fortress Yuryiv).

The gem of Bila Tserkva is the complex of landscape architecture in the dendrologic park “Oleksandriya” laid out by the countess Oleksandra Branytska at the end of the 18th — the beginning of the 19th c.

Rzhyshchiv, a town of regional subordination, is situated in the estuary of the Lehlychi River. Rzhyschiv appeared on the site of the ancient town of Ivanhorod, first mentioned in chronicles in 1151.

The Obukhiv region is situated in the central part of the Kyiv region, 30 km from Kyiv.

The regional archaeological museum (the village of Trypillia) stands on the Dnipro’s steep slope on the site of the ancient town of Trypol.

The collection of the museum gives a clear idea of the historic events that occurred in the Kyiv area from the Paleolithic age to the end of the 18th century. The museum displays antiquities of Zarubyntsi, Cherniakhiv, Kyiv, Kolochyn, Luka-Raikovets, Volyntsiv and Romny cultures.

Zgurivka Dendrologic Park of Landscape Architecture.

The park was laid out in 1860's by the count Kochubei. The park has 382 species of trees and bushes from Europe, Asia and America.

Yahotyn Park. Loud out at the end of the 18th century the prince Rozumovsky. The flora was brought from Europe, Asia and America.

Tashan Park. The park was planted by the prince Horchakov at the end of the 18th century.

The Kyiv region is a new area of green country tourism. Its location in the temperate climatic zone opens it up for both summer and winter recreation. The region has original vernacular arts, tourist routes, and whole food agriculture. The Dnipro’s banks are equal in beauty to the valleys of the Carpathian Mountains and the springs of mineral waters rival in their curative value the best mineral waters of Ukraine.
