Physical education and health-improving activities in the Kyiv region are organized at 1850 enterprises, educational institutions and organizations, 1090 (50%) of them are located in rural areas. In cities, towns and districts there are 1600 health-improving groups, in rural areas — over 300.The developed material and technical basis and high potential of the professionals facilitate the expansion of sport movement all over the area.

48 stadiums, approximately 1250 sports grounds and fields, 755 gymnasiums, 21 swimming pools, 578 adapted sports buildings, and 600 grounds with bodybuilding equipment are offered for public use. In rural areas there are 7 stadiums, 990 sports grounds, 350 of them are equipped with exercisers, 613 gymnasiums and rooms for physical exercises.

In the production sphere there are 65 gymnasiums, 59 restorative centers and saunas. 57 groups numbering approximately one thousand people attend 8 rooms of psychical relaxation and health centers.

In order to preserve sport movement in rural areas in the context of reforming agriculture on the basis of private property in land, a new form of sport activities is being introduced in the region — setting up sport clubs by rural councils.

83 clubs of this kind are open in the region, with 35 paid professionals employed.

There are 79 tourist organizations in the Kyiv region.
